SAN FRANCISCO – Alex Cobb should be available to pitch this weekend but manager Gabe Kapler stopped short of saying the right-hander will start Saturday in the second game of the Giants’ season-opening series with the New York Yankees.Kapler said Cobb (bruised left knee) felt good after he threw 52 pitches over four innings Monday in a minor league backfield game in Arizona, and will join the Giants when they begin a three-game series against at Yankee Stadium on Thursday.The Giants, though, have yet to announce their rotation plans, beyond Logan Webb’s start on Opening Day. (KRON) -- Only one bird remains on the loose this week after a storm-toppled tree smashed into the Oakland Zoo's Savanna bird aviary.Five of the six escaped birds have been recovered. But a black-and-white pied crow, named Diego, is still flying free somewhere in the San Francisco Bay Area. "If people see it ... call us and let us know so we can try to get him," zoo spokesperson Erin Dogan told KRON4 Monday.Diego's species is native to Africa. SUNNYVALE, Calif. (KRON) -- Last April the city attorney for Sunnyvale announced plans to file a lawsuit against the owner of an Airbnb where an 18-year-old man was killed, and now his parents are taking action.Elias Elhania was shot and killed at a Sunnyvale party in 2021. It was held at an Airbnb on Navarro Drive, but according to the city, the property was never registered as a short-term rental. According to police, a 17-year-old shot Elias twice, surrounded by 200 young people.The victim’s parents are now suing the homeowner, Ke Zhou, and Airbnb saying they should be held responsible for the death and that Airbnb should have known about the illegal activity. PALO ALTO, Calif. (KRON) -- A student at Palo Alto High School was cited on Friday for allegedly bringing a weapon to school, the Palo Alto Police Department said in a press release. The weapon is believed to be an airsoft gun. Police dispatch received a call Friday morning that a student posted images of herself holding what was believed to be a handgun on Instagram, and she might have brought the weapon to school in the past. Police responded to the school at 50 Embarcadero Road at approximately 11:28 a.m. on Friday. A PAPD investigation showed that the student, a 15-year-old girl, had posted two pictures of herself holding what looked like a black handgun. One of the pictures was taken in December 2022. (KRON) -- A six-year-old boy has died after a vehicle being pursued by police crashed into his family's vehicle on Thursday, the Hercules Police Department confirmed in a press release Monday afternoon. The mother died at the scene.
