South Bay prisoner implicated in inmate homicide at Salinas Valley State Prison A man convicted in Santa Clara County is one of two prisoners accused of killing another inmate at Salinas Valley State Prison on Thursday, authorities said.The deadly encounter was reported around 8:40 a.m. in a recreational yard of the facility located in the Monterey County city of Soledad, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.Correctional officers reportedly saw 23-year-old Adrian Lopez and 39-year-old David Pacheco attacking Oracio Ramirez, 30, before they broke up the confrontation by firing a less-lethal projectile at them.An ambulance was called, and Ramirez was pronounced dead about 20 minutes after the attack began. Petaluma Police Department conducted DUI checkpoint, 24 arrests (KRON) –  A  DUI and driver's license checkpoint operation in Petaluma resulted in 24 arrests, the Petaluma Police Department announced Saturday. Petaluma PD conducted two checkpoints on Dec. 15. One checkpoint was conducted on East Washington Street between Parkland Way and Executive Drive from 6 p.m. through 9:30 p.m. The secondary checkpoint was conducted on Petaluma Boulevard North near Oak Street between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m.  Oakland robbers chase, ram victim’s car at Lake Merritt Out of the 317 vehicles screened in the East Washington checkpoint,  seven drivers were cited or arrested for operating a vehicle unlicensed or while suspended or revoked.For the Petaluma Boulevard North checkpoint, 126 vehicles were screened. The Australian helped form the group in 1973 Australian drummer Colin Burgess, an original member of the hard rock band AC/DC in the early 1970s, has died, the band confirmed on its social media accounts.
