Travis County says plan ahead for Easter crowds at parks

Published Fri, 28 Feb 2025 23:03:53 GMT

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Travis County officials said visitors should plan ahead for crowds at county parks on Easter Sunday, which falls on April 9.County officials said if a park reaches maximum capacity, additional visitors will not be allowed in for the rest of the day. The county will post a closure notice on that park's webpage. The county warned that visitors will not be allowed to park elsewhere and walk in, and anyone who leaves a park while it is at capacity will not be allowed to re-enter. According to the county, parks that charge day use fees only accept cash. Credit or debit cards are not accepted at those entrance booths. Some parks offer reservations for shelters or pavilions for big groups. The county asks you do not bring confetti eggs, also known as cascarones, that contain plastic confetti. You can also check individual park webpages and the "Know Before You Go" sections.

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Today's 98.3 TRY Social Dilemma came from Jeannie and it's about neighbors and pets. Here's her email: Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! Hi Jaime. I have a dilemma and I need to know if you think I'm the bad guy here because some of my neighbors think I am but I don't. My neighbor next door has a beautiful dog, a sweet golden retriever named Sport. While they have a fenced in backyard, Sport is always digging holes under the fence and coming into my yard to go to the bathroom. I can't stand it, and no matter how many times I've told them, they've never done anything about it. So the last time Sport came over to do his business, I called animal control on him. I couldn't take it anymore. My neighbors' just got a warning, but they are furious with me. And so it seems are some other neighbors on the block. There are a few who agree with me, but most think I took it too far. I'm curious what others think ...

Dear Amy: I’m a retired Army officer and since 2008 have deferred all decisions about my finances to my wife, who has an MBA.For the past five years, she did our taxes and I never even had the chance to review them. One year we owed $40k, and this year, $16k.I asked to see our return tonight and suggested that we may want a professional to review the return. The response was “We don’t need a [expletive] accountant!”I earn $215k and she earns $150k annually, and I really don’t know where the money goes.I hope to retire in five years, but feel I need a neutral third-party professional to advise.Thoughts?— Not InformedDear Not Informed: You say you are retired from the military, but you are obviously working in another field, now, and looking toward your second retirement. You and your wife are high-earners.This ignorance is on you. Poles march to defend Pope John Paul II against abuse cover-up allegations

Published Fri, 28 Feb 2025 23:03:53 GMT

Thousands of Poles marched through Warsaw and other cities on Sunday to show their support for the late Pope John Paul II in the face of what they said were false allegations that he concealed child abuse in the Catholic Church. The ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party, which faces a tough election later this year, and other religious conservatives have said any calls to re-examine his legacy amount to a plot to discredit the nation's biggest moral authority. That argument resonates strongly with many older Poles who were inspired by John Paul to stand up to Communism in the 1970s and '80s, although church attendance has been falling in the decades since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989."I felt the need to show my connection with (the pope's) teaching," said Donata Pronczuk, a retired teacher, who came to Warsaw from the northern city of Koszalin for the march, which marked the 18th anniversary of the pope's death."John Paul II did nothing wrong. Any charges against him are false and...
