Nuggets coach Michael Malone takes responsibility for Aaron Gordon gaffe Nuggets coach Michael Malone knew almost instantly he’d made a mistake. In the moments after Denver wrapped up its win over the 76ers, Malone waved pleasantries to Sixers coach Doc Rivers before he went to find his starting power forward.Malone had, inadvertently, gone with Jeff Green over Gordon to close the game. That decision was largely based on Denver’s 20-point lead several minutes into the fourth quarter, and the hope that Malone might be able to steal some extra rest for his starters. When the lead evaporated as a result of turnovers and porous defense, Malone went back to his regulars except for Gordon.“Poor coaching,” Malone admitted after the game.Malone found him and threw his arm around him immediately to explain his mistake. Gordon, according to Malone, told him it didn’t matter. All that mattered was that they’d won.“He just said that he should’ve had me in there,” Gordon said after Wednesday’s practice. “I mean, you can’t go wrong. It’s Jeff Green. This guy’s a 16-yea...

“Tetris” has its moments but generally is a haphazard telling of race to secure game’s rights “Tetris” is a video game that’s simple and, in its way, quite beautiful.People around the world know this, as the Russian puzzler requiring the increasingly quick arrangement of differently shaped four-block pieces that fall from the top of the screen has sold millions and millions of copies over a few decades. The new film “Tetris” — landing on Apple TV+ this week after debuting in March at the SXSW Film Festival — is, by stark contrast, complex and messy.Infused with a good bit of fiction meant to spice it up, the cinematic “Tetris” tells the true tale of the hectic battle to secure the rights to sell the game in various countries and via different types of platforms, perhaps most importantly handheld gaming systems.Related ArticlesMovies | TABOR back on court’s plate Movies | Letter: Lynch overrated anyway Movies | Iran won’t end uranium enrichment Movies | Warm day to give way to more snow Directed ...

Read more Letters to the Editor.Drought or not, statemust conserve waterRe: “Newsom denies obvious: State no longer in drought” (Page A6, March 28).George Skelton’s column saying that the governor denies that the state is no longer in a drought is meaningless. Skelton seems to want the governor to officially proclaim it’s over. But why do that and what will that accomplish? We had a deepening-water crisis even before the drought. If the governor declares what Skelton wants that could signal a return to the past practice of waste. Our crisis is of a magnitude that, in my opinion, we seem to need a four- to five-year water reserve to make it through the next drought, which could return next year.We are in no position to declare anything. This abundance of rain is just a reprieve. If the governor should say anything, it is that we are changing practices, policies and starting new projects to sustain California’s future.Ma...

They said gastrointestinal issues are not uncommon in giraffes, so they began treating her and monitoring her health. But after seeming stable, her health suddenly deteriorated Monday.Willow, 6, was born at the Maryland Zoo in 2017. The zoo held a naming contest that year that returned over 26,000 responses. They released a statement about her passing:“This is a tremendous loss, and we know our members, guests, and friends feel it too. Since her birth, Willow has inspired joy and compassion in thousands of people. She grew from an awkward calf with ossicones that looked like pigtails, to a beautiful icon of the Zoo and her vulnerable species. Willow’s presence at the Giraffe Feeding Station in particular, is something everyone will miss.“We could go on about Willow’s go...
