Roseville High School gun charges: 16-year-old tried to hand off gun to another student

A 16-year-old accused of having a gun at Roseville Area High School last week tried to hand the weapon over to another student to hold it when he found out school officials were going to search him, according to charges.School officials told a Roseville police officer about 1 p.m. Oct. 24 they’d be searching two students they believed may have guns. They searched a 17-year-old, who is the brother of the younger teen, and found a bullet in his backpack, according to a juvenile petition filed Tuesday by the Ramsey County attorney’s office.The officer went to the area where the 16-year-old was and noted he “was agitated and walking around the room holding a long metal pipe,” said a separate juvenile petition filed by prosecutors last week. The officer took the pipe, called for backup and handcuffed the 16-year-old.In the 16-year-old’s backpack, the officer found a handgun loaded with a magazine containing 15 rounds, according to the petition. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (NEWS10) -- A North Adams man was sentenced for attempted coercion and enticement of a minor. James Macko, 23, will serve 14 years in prison. According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), Macko admitted that between November 16, 2022, and December 9, 2022, he texted an undercover cop posing as an 11-year-old trying to coerce the assumed child into sexual contact with him. The DOJ says Macko planned to meet the assumed child in a state park in Western Massachusetts, where he intended to perform sexual acts on the child in a cave.On December 9, 2022, Macko left his North Adams home to meet the assumed child and was arrested shortly after. Campus police at the University of California, Los Angeles are looking for two suspects involved in a potential hate crime shooting involving a BB gun.The incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday when, according to police, two people in a car approached a male UCLA student who was walking on De Neve Drive near Rieber Hall.“A rear passenger yelled a homophobic slur, then brandished a white BB gun and shot at the victim, striking him below the eye,” UCLA police said in a bulletin.The victim suffered a minor cut below his eye.Information about the suspects is extremely limited.Police say they were driving a white four-door sedan with an unknown make and model, and the driver was wearing a black ski mask.Anyone with information is urged to call UCLA police at 310-825-1491.Las Vegas Raiders fire head coach, general manager on same day

Southbound lanes of the 101 Freeway through Hollywood were closed through the morning commute Wednesday after a pedestrian was hit and killed by at least one vehicle. The collision occurred around 4:30 a.m. near the Vermont Avenue exit.California Highway Patrol officers immediately blocked lanes, causing traffic backups that extended through the Cahuenga Pass into the San Fernando Valley. The Highland Fire, which ignited Monday in Riverside County, is now 15% contained, fire officials said on Wednesday.The blaze, which has reached nearly 2,500 acres in size, is expected to be fully contained by Nov. 8, Cal Fire said in an update.
