LBJ Early College High School completes Phase 1 of modernization as part of 2017 Bond Program

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Lyndon B. Johnson Early College High school celebrated the grand opening of the school's Phase 1 modernization Wednesday, which was built as part of the 2017 Bond Program. Construction on LBJ’s modernization began in June 2021 and was completed in December2022, according to a release. It opened to students and faculty for the start of the spring semester, and was designed by Perkins & Will and built by Vaughn Construction.According to the release, the focus of the modernization was to expand career opportunities and renovate learning spaces to benefit all students.A central hub was built to unify the academic wing with the rest of the building. ST. LOUIS - The Supreme Court of Missouri has ordered an execution date for a man convicted in a St. Louis-area girl's murder from two decades ago. A St. Louis-based jury found Johnny Johnson guilty of first-degree murder and other criminal charges in the July 2002 death of seven-year-old Cassandra “Casey” Williamson. Last year, the State of Missouri filed a motion to set an execution date. On Thursday, the state ordered the execution for 6 p.m. on Aug. 1, 2023. The execution will happen under the supervision and direction of the director of the Missouri Department of Corrections. ST. LOUIS – The Saint Louis Public School District confirmed bed bugs were found inside a high school twice in the last seven days, prompting visits from pest control.George Sells, an SLPS spokesperson, confirmed the incidents occurred at Vashon High School, located in the Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood. The first incident happened last Friday.The bugs were found in a small area in the building, Sells said. The Colorado Economic Development Commission extended nearly $19 million in state tax credits on Thursday to two companies that are considering locating more than 1,250 jobs in the state.The largest award, at $14 million in Job Growth Incentive Tax Credits, went to a sports betting and gaming company from the United Kingdom that is looking to make a $40 million investment to build out 120,000 square feet of office space. A 20-year-old woman was killed when unknown suspects hurled a large rock at her car, crashing through the windshield and hitting her. Knott’s Berry Farm plans to reimplement its chaperone policy, which was enacted last summer due to increasing fights, beginning this Saturday, the theme park announced Thursday.Under the new policy, park guests who are 15 years old or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone 21 years old or older to be admitted or remain inside the theme park after 4 p.m.“The chaperone must present a valid government-issued photo identification with date of birth at ticket entry.
